Galactic Commandos

So I mentioned that I’ve been working on a game all along, and this is it.

Hear me rant after the jump

For those of you who have been following my blog (when it was still active), you probably know it as PAPA, Protectors of Mother Earth. Well,  yea, I thought it was a much cooler title too, but you can probably never google that.

For a start, I need to confess, that I completely left out what I think is the most important section – credits.

Raymond (my ego is making me write this), I did the game design, UI, artwork and surviving this
Lutc (SHS fame) for the programming, ideas, etc
Adam Alonso for most that you hear in there
Gun and Cheelong who steal the show with the crazy animation and visual efx
David (my big bro) for holding my hands across the road in a non-gay fashion
Donny, Dennis, KJ and Paul for…. various help? Especially feedback.
Chris, Paul (again) and Sihui for accompanying me to Japan, lol. Needed that so bad.
MDA and E4 for well… making this possible~
… And you. As Capcom would have said in the early 90s – But really, because I realize that the viewers just came back daily,  despite staring at the same thing over and over again.

Anyway,  I sounded like I won some best actor award or sort, I know. And I also know that GC is not the most fantastic game out there too. But that’s okay, because it has been an awesome year,  I’ve met some awesome people, with even more awesome plans ahead.  I’m learning, and will be making  more games, on both flash and XNA and who knows what else.

When I find time again, I will be sharing my experience with the Invigorate initiative and hopfully some post mortem of GC, so yes, it might be another lie, but stay tune.

And for those of you who hit the jump, here’s a bonus pic for you.

A nice game, with a special thanks from a former Lost Vikings lover…
Yet, i think the gameplay of the flash version could be improved, first by speeding up moves from the characters — moving guys often takes too long.

Second, as unfortunately usual in such games, you force the player to go through tutorial levels that show little fun. A little example of what the characters can do would, e.g. at intermission or during “pick your level” menu (I remember of Commander Keen’s hall of fame where i figured out that it was possible to shoot down while jumping, for instance).
