Cowboy Theme Shooter

So… I’m not sure if I actually post this before I disappear. It’s a mock screenshot for a simple Iphone shooter… which died in conceptualizing stage. Apparently the whole cowboy thing wasn’t the most popular theme.

The game is suppose to be like a space invader,  with invading enemies and random covers which can be destoryed.  I’m not gonna go into details, but just sharing the art.

Singapore Game Box @ E2Max

My latest games, Galactic Commando and Straw Hat Samurai 2 was recently invited be shared at the Singapore Game Box, located at E2Max, 9th floor of Cineleisure.

Singapore Game Box (SGGB), is an initiative and platform for local games. Player get to play whichever game that’s there and…well, it’s free of charge. And free is always cool for the gamers.

As for being a developer, I’m just amaze by how much the industry has grown over the years. Though many of today games might still seem weak in comparison to what they have in European countries, I’m expecting to see much more awesome indie games in Singapore soon. As for now, you can always check out Carneyvale from Gambit, Nabi Studio’s Toribash and my latest favorite, Ratloops Mightier.

But back to Singapore Game Box. I was excited to find out about the event, so I decided to provide some help with the event logo…

No man on the moon

I can’t exactly recall when did it become a trend for people to make MJ jokes. They all seems harmless until he passed away… and then the musics and videos starts playing… and then you remembered how awesome the man was… and how you secretly dances along in your bathroom with your naked ass.

My biggest memory of the man was less of his performances, but amazingly, more of his game, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. A game made for the Sega Genesis and release back in 1990, it’s one of the few games I manage to beat as a kid.  It had a very simple concept, you controls MJ to walk around, sprinkle fairy dust, finding/saving childrens and dancing the bad guys to hell. But it’s a really bizarre concept when you think about it now, and it definitely stand out from the crowd.

I played the game again today on emulator for old times sake… and perhaps my little goodbye to the times I spend playing the game as a kid.

Goodbye, MJ.
Goodbye, sweet 90s.
MJ

Galactic Commando review

There’s a review of Galactic Commando from Flytrap games, and you can read about it here.

Anyway, It sounds like the guys at Flytrap does enjoy the game, and rates it “the most polished puzzle-platformer we’ve encountered in months”, and I must say it’s alway good to know someone enjoying what you’ve done.

But what about you? What do you think?
Yay, or nah? and why? I’d love to hear : )
